Can you donate some food for the needy in Sydney?

Presbyterian Social Services helps local residents in need by distributing food parcels every afternoon from the PCNSW’s head office in Sydney’s Surry Hills.  This is made possible by the generosity of the Dorcas Committee, various congregations and individuals.
However, unprecedented demand has meant that supplies are running low...

Sydney based churches and individuals can help by donating individual food items or hampers as follows:

  • Cans of vegetables: Beans, corn, Peas, Bean mixes, Carrots, Beetroot, Mushrooms, Tinned Meats/Meals, Baked beans, Ham, Corned beef, Fish (tuna, salmon, other), Soups, Meat meals (braised steak/vegies etc), Spaghetti, Carbohydrates
  • Breakfast cereal
  • Pasta and sauces (1kg packs or less)
  • Rice and sauces (1kg packs or less): Pasta meals, Rice meals
  • Cans of fruit: Fruit salad, Peaches, Pears, Pineapple, Apricots
  • Biscuits – sweet and savoury
  • Coffee (Instant ONLY)
  • Tea (tea bags ONLY, small packets)
  • Long life milk (1L or smaller)

Please do not include:
  • items where the use by date has expired
  • home-made food items
  • food that requires refrigeration
  • items such as bread, rolls, crumpets, etc
  • cans that are rusted or dented

Please note that The expiry date on food should be no earlier than March 2011.

Donations can be send to PSS at PCNSW, 168 Chalmers St Surry Hills 2010 or to the depot located at 2 Ladbroke Street, Milperra.
